DMK Construction Services Projects

Dearborn Street Widening

The Dearborn Street widening occured between SR776 and Pine Street, and went from two lanes to four lanes.  The roadway project included the relocation of a number of water and sewer lines owned and operated by Englewood Water District (EWD). A joint project agreement between Sarasota County and EWD, stipulated that all utilities relocation work would be bid together with the roadway improvements, but EWD would provide full time Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services for the construction associated with the relocation of their lines. DMK Associates provided the CEI services for this project.

Longboat Key Lift Stations

DMK evaluated the condition of and provided plans for the refurbishment of two lift stations constructed in 1972 that were due for cleaning, repair and refurbishment.  DMK performed a physical inspection of equipment and structures and performed pump down test to establish current operating conditions.  This work was followed up with a topographical survey of both sites and a geotechnical core sample near each wet-well.  DMK also gathered information by examining record drawings of each lift station and the surrounding utilities system, then created a list of recommended repairs and replacements for each lift station and brought controls up to date.  After reviewing this list with the Client, DMK provided a set of plans, specifications and bid documents for the repair of these lift stations.

Public meetings were held to insure all concerns were heard and subsequent meetings to allow for residents to follow project progress.  DMK also performed bid and construction phase services.

Venice Gardens Water Treatment Wellfield Standby Generator

DMK provided Construction Engineering and Inspection Services for the Venice Gardens Water Treatment Plant modifications.  The plant was upgraded for sufficient Diesel Generator capacity to maintain operation of the entire plant for treatment and distribution of the water source during power outages. DMK construction management tasks included scheduling and hosting Pre-construction and bi-weekly meetings throughout the project, reviewing the baseline schedule and monthly monitoring of the schedule, coordination of shop drawings and submittals with Sarasota County, maintaining accurate cost accounting records of the contractor's work, processing pay requests by the contractor, utilizing Primavera for record input of data, analyzing and recommending solutions of problems, processing of requests for additional information, processing of Interim Field Change Agreements(IFCA's), maintaining accurate records of activities on a daily basis, reviewing and recommending time extensions, assisting the County when negotiating contract price changes and coordinating with the County to ensure all permits were active and secured.

DMK was also involved with the field construction and provided services to monitor the Contractor's on-site construction operations and observe and inspect workmanship and materials such that the project would be completed in substantial conformity with the plans, specifications and other contract provisions and reject any non-conforming work. DMK also participated in the final walk-through, prepared punch-list items and reviewed record drawing information for reasonable completeness.
