DMK Surveying & Mapping Projects

Dearborn Street Widening

The Dearborn Street widening occured between SR776 and Pine Street, and went from two lanes to four lanes.  The roadway project included the relocation of a number of water and sewer lines owned and operated by Englewood Water District (EWD). A joint project agreement between Sarasota County and EWD, stipulated that all utilities relocation work would be bid together with the roadway improvements, but EWD would provide full time Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services for the construction associated with the relocation of their lines. DMK Associates provided the CEI services for this project.

Snake Island Restoration

DMK's Survey Department was contracted to verify horizontal and vertical control on the isolated island and provide construction staking with offsets for installation of proposed improvements.  DMK Project Surveyors assisted the contractor in providing locations for benchmark buoys to allow the proposed dredge and placement of barrier stones and island fill.  Field staking provided design engineers with spot elevation checks for toe and top of rock revetment around the island to show precise location of improvements and conformance with permit documents.

Charlotte County Vertical Control Network

DMK was selected by Charlotte County to perform professional surveying and mapping services for the Expansion of the Vertical Control Network throughout Charlotte County on the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NGVD 88).

This project will densify the National Geodetic Survey (NGS) Vertical Control Network specifically in those areas subject to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) flood zones within this jurisdiction. The FEMA stipulation is that the Benchmarks set must meet NGS standards for 2nd Order, Class II accuracy standards.
