The project involves engineering services for the analysis,
design and permitting of the improvements of approximately
120 feet of a stormwater conveyance ditch. Project tasks include
the analysis of the contributing watershed to determine if
improving the ditch and upgrading of an existing pipe system
will relieve flooding upstream of the conveyance ditch without
impacting the downstream stormwater system, and improving
the ditch by stabilizing the side slopes using erosion control
methods and materials.
Tasks
Data Collection:
As part of the contract scope, DMK Associates has completed
data collection from City of Venice and Sarasota County. We
obtained geographical information from the Sarasota County
Stormwater Division and an electronic copy of the AdICPR stormwater
model for the Hatchett Creek drainage area. As-built information
for the East Gate Subdivision enclosed stormwater system was
obtained from the City of Venice. Topographic survey was also
collected for approximately 750 linear feet of Roberta Ditch
and portions of the downstream conveyance system.
Delineation of Basin and Subbasins:
DMK Associates used the above information along with field
verification to determine basin and subbasin boundaries within
the vicinity of Roberta Ditch and the East Gate subdivision.
The Sarasota County Basin Map was discretized into smaller
subbasins in order to determine flows and elevations within
the project area.
AdICPR Modeling:
DMK Associates revised the Sarasota County AdICPR model using
the information for the discretized basins and modeled the
project area for the 5, 10, 25 and 100 year 24 hour storm
events. Revisions to the Sarasota County AdICPR model were
based on topographic survey completed by DMK Associates, as-built
information obtained from the City of Venice and site visits
