Bayfront Park, Longboat Key
On this Park project, DMK was requested by the architectural team to provide all services related to land surveying, site planning, stormwater management, seawall and dock permitting, utility designs and permitting, assistance with FDEP permitting for activities seaward of the Coastal Construction Control Line and general coordination with the Architectural and Planning group charged with obtaining public and local input.
Coastal engineering, design, and permitting by DMK included FDEP ERP permitting for docks, kayak launch, and boardwalks as well as FDEP Coastal Construction Control Line permitting for emergency vehicular access to the beach, pedestrian access ramp, and observation deck.
In developing plans, public involvement was necessary to make sure that the end product is meaningful and useful to the surrounding community. Making Bayfront Park the success that it is.
MarineMax
DMK Associates, Inc. was responsible for the design of site revisions for boat racks and parking including; demo plan, paving, stormwater BMP, grading, floodplain compensation study and design, stormwater drainage, and utility design. SWFWMD permitting and City of Sarasota permitting were completed throughout the project.
Port Charlotte Beach Park and Sailing Center
DMK was retained by Charlotte County to design and permit improvements to the Port Charlotte Beach Park through Charlotte County’s Facilities Construction & Maintenance Department. The project involved design of additional beach parking, pedestrian access, and improved traffic circulation by adding a new direct access drive for boat trailers. The stormwater system was designed to meet the most current water quality standards for discharge into Charlotte Harbor, an Outstanding Florida Water through the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) and Charlotte County. In addition, native landscaping, and an outdoor events lawn capable of hosting a portable stage for live music was included in the design.
DMK also designed and permitted construction plans for the Port Charlotte Beach Sailing Center. This area of the park is home to the Port Charlotte Sailing Club. The improvements associated with this phase of the park consist of an enclosed workshop, covered boat storage with gravel parking surface, grass parking for boat trailer storage, security fencing, a covered pavilion for outdoor trainings/events and improved pedestrian walkways and access to the electric boat hoist.
Lake Hancock P-11 Structure
DMK was contracted by the Southwest Florida Water Management District to conduct specified tasks within elements of a Lake Hancock Lake Level Modification as part of the Upper Peace River Minimum Flow Mitigation Strategy to provide additional storage of surface waters. DMK performed the design and permitting services to replace the existing P-11 structure.
Longboat Key Lift Station Project
As consultant to the Town of Longboat Key, DMK has performed an evaluation study, design, permitting and construction engineering services on 11 medium size lift stations and one master lift station. As part of the evaluation study, the feasibility and cost of replacing each lift station, versus rehabilitating it was considered. These lift stations required an evaluation of their condition and the development of plans for either reconstruction or refurbishment.
Booker High School
DMK Associates, Inc. performed overall site planning which included athletic fields, grading and drainage design with an AdICPR model of existing and proposed conditions for entire site as well as access roads, sidewalks and parking. Utility work included preparation of a site plan showing existing and proposed sewer and water lines, including fire protection, gravity sewers, force mains, lift stations and connection to the City of Sarasota water and sewer systems. In addition, Orange Avenue, a collector road within the City of Sarasota system that bisected the existing campus, was re-routed to the east so that traffic no longer travels through the campus.
Charlotte High School
Design, permitting and construction administration for the new Charlotte High School campus including athletic fields, field house and football field on the existing 90 acres campus which was destroyed by hurricane Charley.
Culver's, Venice
DMK Associates, Inc. completed the site design for Culvers off Shamrock Blvd. Site design, permitting and CEI services were all successfully conducted.
Coon Key MURT and Water Main Replacement
DMK designed and permitted the 10' Multi-Use Recreational Trail located on Coon Key between the Coon Key bridge and Washington Drive for the City of Sarasota. The scope of services included the preparation of detailed construction drawings and all documentation needed to support the design and bid the project including replacement of an existing 16" AC water main. In addition, DMK performed all the necessary survey work. Since the project was located in FDOT right-of-way it was constructed through a local agency agreement with the FDOT and was designed to FDOT standards. The project design and contract documents for bidding have been completed and is currently advertised for construction bids.
Pedestrian Bridges, North Port
As consultant to the City of North Port, DMK was tasked to design and permit pedestrian bridges along Price Boulevard, over seven waterway crossings. The waterways were:

William R. Gaines Jr., Veterans Memorial Park
DMK is proud to have helped complete the family friendly addition to this park. According to the Florida Department of Veteran's Affairs (FDVA), Florida is ranked third for highest veteran population. Charlotte County alone has almost 200,00 among its population. It's a privilege to have been part of project and bring more veteran recognition and appreciation to our community.
DMK completed the planning, site analysis, design, and construction services for the new park entry drive, playground, playground parking, pedestrian walkways and covered pavilion.

Lemon Bay High School, Placida
Design, permitting and construction administration for the new Lemon Bay High School campus including athletic fields, and football field on the existing 45-acre campus. DMK has been providing engineering and surveying for the Lemon Bay High School campus for over 20 years.
DMK has provided design, permitting and construction phase services for the multi-phase project through completion of the final build out of the 3-story classroom wing, cafeteria, gymnasium, music suite and auditorium, administration buildings, medical center, energy plant, bus loop and parking areas which were completed in 2016.
Civil design, permitting and construction administration for new Athletic fields at Lemon Bay High School.The survey portion included aerial control surveys, topographic surveys for drainage run-off and construction layout for drainage and for the ball fields.
